Highest Level of Education
(is gendered and geographic)

The census looks at Education from two different perspectives, who is attending school, TAFE or University. Unsurprisingly the latter showing high numbers in areas which have university campuses. That data is a somewhat useful indicator of the future

It is better to use the highest educational achievment data point.

Brains are in the cities

There is a clear corelation between cities and higher post school qualifications. At it's lowest 14% of men in remote Australia have bachelor degrees or higher, in cities it's twice as many.

Women have more degrees

More women have degrees than men in all areas of Australia. Specifically in cities 37% of women compared to 31% of men. What is also significant is that the gap is widening

Men have more TAFE

Another real difference in education is in Tafe qualifactions. When looking at Cert III and IV, the regions have far more men with those as their highest qualification. There is a big gap, with cities not showing anything like the same.

Free TAFE seems to have reached capascity for men, but is still attracting increasing number of women.
